"For you, a thousand times over"


This quote has been taken from the novel The Kite Runner, written by Khalid Hosseini. This quote has been used by Hassan for Amir.


For You, A Thousand Times Over


To me this quote is about loving someone, to an extent that you are willing to do anything and everything for them, even a thousand times over. We often associate the word love in a romantic way, but love is diverse. The kite runner depicts love of Hassan for his brother/ friend whom he lovingly called Amir Agha.


This quote talks about love in which we put someone else's needs before our priorities, one is willing to do anything for the other person. This love is boundless.


But, what I also want to add is self love is very important. At times we give someone such high value in our heart that we totally forget ourselves, our needs, desires, dreams etc. Love should lead to growth. The love where only one person is giving and is willing to do anything is not right. Love yourself first then only one can truly love someone else.

The man who planted trees is a short story by Jean Giono. This story is about a shepherd who single handedly converted a deserted land into a new forest. Book summary of the man who planted trees Summary: The story begins when the narrator decides to take a hiking trip through provence and into the alps. On his way, he reached a deserted, barren area where hardly anything grows. Only wild lavender can be found in this region. On his journey, he runs out of water and his search of water leads him to a shepherd named Elzeard Bouffier, who gave him water and took the narrator to his cottage. Curious about his way of living and laconic tone the narrator decides to stay with him for the time. He gets to know that after losing his son and wife, the old shepherd decided to reside his life in solitude. He would separate good acorns from the bad ones and plant those on the barren land.
